ACTIVELY ENGLISH works with international adult learners: independent professionals, employees, university students and adults seeking a full immersion experience. Each client brings their own language goals and challenges but they all share a common purpose; to achieve a level of English that allows them to live confidently and actively in the UK. Individually developed coaching programmes empower them to communicate effectively, participate fully, and thrive in their workplaces and communities.
Working Professionals in the UK face many communication challenges, from achieving success in exams like IELTS to thriving in a competitive international workplace. For fluent, articulate speakers in their first language it can be both frustrating and limiting trying to express complex ideas with the same ease in English. In addition there are everyday communication hurdles to navigate when living and working in the UK. Real progress means developing confidence and fluency to communicate naturally in both professional and everyday life.
ACTIVELY ENGLISH Professional Services helps professionals to improve their specific language and communication requirements using experienced language coaches delivering intensive goal specific coaching and conversation groups.
In an international Working Environment where effective communication is essential, language barriers can hinder collaboration and lower productivity. Differences in working customs, business etiquette, and conversational tone may lead to misunderstanding and tensions within a team. Over time, recruitment and retention can become challenging without a common language strategy to help all employees communicate clearly and confidently.
ACTIVELY ENGLISH Business Plans help organisations develop their international employees, using language coaches with business backgrounds, delivering coaching centred around role and industry-specific communication skills, cultural awareness and practical workplace fluency.
International Students studying at universities in the UK enjoy a great opportunity but face a number of challenges, including the culture-shock of unfamiliar surroundings and communication difficulties that stretch beyond academic English.

I’m Lucy Constantine and I’ve enjoyed a lifelong fascination with words: their history, nuance and power to shape meaning and expression.
My love of language started at university, studying Latin as part of my bachelor’s degree. I qualified as a teacher in 1994 and, for 25 years, taught English in primary schools. I examined how children acquire language, how they learn to read and write and, especially, the challenges they face when English is a second language. In 2015 I started teaching English as Foreign Language, qualifying as an EFL teacher in 2019. I have served as Director of Studies for a successful language school, developing courses and recruiting teachers.
Crucially, I have a background in business, particularly in finance, management, and recruitment. I trained as an accountant, worked in professional practice early in my career and understand the priorities and pressures of the workplace and the demand for advanced language skills. In 2020, I took up a role as a university lecturer in Business English.
ACTIVELY ENGLISH brings to bear my expertise in English language coaching and business know-how to help international professionals and university students advance beyond classroom learning and participate in real-world communication with confidence.
